We would like to invite you to become a member of one or more of our committees.

Click on each of the tabs above and read about the responsibilities of each committee and see which one you would like to serve. 

In this day of e-mail and internet it makes it easier for everyone to serve on a committee.

If you are interested in serving on a committee or chairing a committee, please contact us at info@bcgensoc.com and in the subject line write "Committee" then state the committee of interest.
 
We encourage all members of the BCGS to serve on a committee.

Membership Committee:   Alma Arent - Chairman Recruit and advertise BCGS happenings
    Carry and give out Business Cards
    Contact previous members to re-new
     
Hospitality Committee: Margaret Schmieding Door Greeters at Wednesday meetings
   
    Welcoming members & visitors to meetings
    Refreshment assignments when applicable
     
Seminar Committee: Aloma Custer Meet, discuss and plan events for
  Bob Cooley annual seminar.
  Marge Yetzke Set up committees for Seminar
  Janice Plangger Evaluations after completion of Seminar

October Family History Month: Stacey Wigent Develop and set up a display for the St. Joseph Library (Michigan)

BCGS Photographer:   Attend BCGS functions, take pictures and submit
    to Web administrator for posting
     
Long Range Planning: Cindy Frie Plan long range projects such as trips
    to various libraries
    1) Ft. Wayne
    2) Chicago
    3) Salt Lake
     
Websites of Interest: Margaret Schmieding Surf the web and when there is a website of 
  Barbara Pence interest to the members of BCGS either request
    posting with web administrator, supply to
  Marge Yetzke Newsletter editor, or e-mail members with
    short description of the site.
     
Brick Wall Committee: Cindy Frie Availability to help those in need with their
    brick walls.
    Plan Brick Wall Forums for those interested.
    Recruit BCGS researchers
     
Opportunity Awareness: Margaret Schmieding Sharing opportunities with BCGS members
  Marge Yetzke for community involvement for visibility
    of the Society.
    Involve BCGS in any publications from Libraries
    on Genealogical Research
     
Genealogy Education: Cindy Frie Plan, set up and follow through for classes
  Ralph Catania of several levels of researchers

Surname Lists: Margaret Schmieding Update Surname list and submit to
    Website administrator
     
Periodical Awareness:   BCGS awareness of any new periodicals 
    published to enhance genealogy research
     
Pioneer Certificates: Janice Plangger Promote Pioneer Certificates
    Monitor participants progress
    Award Pioneer Certificates to those completed
     
Publicity Committee Marge Yetzke Would like a representative from all areas of 
    Berrien County that would be responsible
    for advertising of events in local newspapers
    libraries, etc.
     
Library Committee Nancy Cooley Select books to add to the BCGS collection
  Cindy Frie in Berrien Springs Library
     
BCGS Historian  Alma Arent Organize and preserve the events held by the 
    BCGS.
