Scottdale United Methodist Church located at 4271 Scottdale Road is at the point where the Spring Run Cemetery begins.  The original portion of the cemetery is on the West side of US-31 in a triangular piece of property that is formed where Scottsdale Road meets.  An addition was added on the east side of US-31, right across the highway.  The first deed was sold February 24, 1894 to Alfred Surch and Mary C. Hyde was the first recorded burial.

 

Located in the Spring Run Cemetery Annex on the east side of US-31 is a monument dedicated to members of the Tri Unit Fire Department that have passed on.  The memorial was dedicated on May 25, 1992 and at this time bears the name of 6 fireman and 2 auxiliary members.

 

From “Berrien Bicentennial”, by James T. Carney:

“Joseph Collier Jr. graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1902 and later went on to become one of the first municipal judges in Berrien County.  Judge Collier died “with his boots on”, on the way to a trial and is buried next to his wife in the Scottdale Cemetery next to their church.”
