From “Sodus Township Bicentennial 1776-1976”:
In the early days, people established cemeteries where they felt the need was.  For instance, a cemetery was established right across from where Edith Bittner now lives and has been taken out and most remains were moved to cemeteries that were highly organized.  There is also a gravestone located near Sodus School.  The headstone bears the name “Cassiday” on it with the following inscription:  “In memory of Mary A. Cassiday – Wife of W. Batson – 1837-1894.”  Mary was the daughter of Robert Cassiday of Ohio and Sabrina Cassiday of New York.  This family was related to the Rector Family.”
