The Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized on April 8, 1860.  Members started out by holding their services in a township schoolhouse.  By 1873, their size had grown so they built a church in the Feather settlement.  Over the years the congregation continued to grow and they again moved to a new location.  The church was moved but the cemetery remains.
