The founder of Stevensville, Thomas Lawrence Stevens, sold 20 square rods of land to the Lincoln Township Board of Health on December 5, 1873, making way for the first section of the present Lincoln Township Cemetery: the cost, $300.00.  Although burials were reported before this time, the site became an official cemetery in 1873.

Appearing on the Lincoln Township Plat Map for 1903, the cemetery bordered the Pere Marquette Railroad to the East and the Kuball property to the North.

The earliest burial appears to be that of Ambrose M. Archer who died on November 16, 1846 at the age of 29 years old.  Many veterans can be found buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery representing all branches of the military and the Civil War, Spanish American War, World War I & II and Vietnam.
